On November 13th, Michael Jackson's TV Special will air on CBS at 8PM Central Time. According to a TV Guide listing, he WILL be performing "Ben", but that remains to be seen.

America's Tribute to Heros

In an historic move, for the first time in television history, ABC, CBS and NBC, along with FOX and other networks will be airing the same program, "America: A Tribute to Heroes", a relief telethon, which will be aired live and commercial free this Friday night, September 21, from 9-11PM ET/CT (tape delayed 9PM MT/PT). Among those appearing will be: Jim Carrey, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Robert DeNiro, Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Will Smith and Robin Williams, along with many more actors and musical acts. Please watch Friday night at 9PM and contribute something to the relief effort. Whatever you can afford will be helpful to those affected by this national tragedy.
It is unclear whether Billy will appear, but "One Voice" will be used in the program.

Sources close to Billy have said that on Sunday, Sept. 9th Billy will be in Los Angeles taping a weeks worth of Hollywood Squares shows. We don't know the exact air dates yet. Usually these shows air within the following few weeks of the taping. This show is hosted by fellow New Englander, Tom Bergeron, who lives in New Hampshire.

Billy Breaks Bone

Billy has broken a small bone in his foot at a golf course before his concert in Verona, NY. It will not require a cast and all his performances are still planned to go on as scheduled.
Best wishes to Billy for a speedy recovery. And Billy, please; stay off those golf courses!

Lots of action in Billy-ville to report. First off, on August 18th at 10PM Eastern on ABC, the "American Celebration at Ford's Theatre" program will air, and Billy will be performing.
On August 23rd on GAC, the "Elisabeth" video will debut on Fast Forward. No word yet on when CMT will get the video.
For those who watched Jerry Lewis' MDA Telethon last year and walked away disappointed that Billy didn't appear, this is your year! On September 3rd, Billy will perform on the telethon between 5 and 6pm Eastern time.
Be sure to get out the vote for Billy on CMT and GAC!

The random picture on the front page now has free roam of all images in the galleries, for better or worse. We'll see how this works out later.
To avoid images pushing off screen, any images > 540 pixels in width are resized to 540 x a number in proper ratio. Should look okay.
If it doesn't work out, we'll go back to letting it choose from a list. Any feedback is appreciated.

Okay, so I've been a little derrilect in remembering to do the charts lately. I'll try to remember. Only the top half of the charts are being reported as is available on the respective websites.
Currently, Dare to Dream only charts in one place, at #19, down five from #14 last week, on the Billboard Country Albums Sales Chart. Don't let this mislead you, however. If I recall correctly, Billy is hovering just outside the top half of the charts in several listings, including Radio and Record's airplay charts.

Nashville, 6/16/01 - After an incredible morning of meeting Billy and his family and seeing Billy in concert, the BillyHeads group was approached by a CMT reporter with a request for a taped interview. We told them the story of how our "BillyBoard" came into being. Also we described how Billy's music inspires us to dream big and to live each day to it's fullest. After that we talked to a reporter from Country.com. And if that wasn't enough, a representative from www.billygilman.com taped us doing a cheer for Billy.
So keep your eyes pealed as the BillyHeads make a splash in the media!h

Billy Wins Discovery Award!

Billy has won the TNN/CMT Country Music Awards, Discovery Award. This fan voted award can only be won once in an artists’ career. Billy had some heavy competition in the likes of Montgomery Gentry, SheDaisy, Phil Vassar and Billy’s own tour mate, Jessica Andrews. Billy was also nominated in the ‘Fast Track’ category that went to Kenney Chesney.
Billy also participated in the show by helping to present the ‘Best Group or Duo Award’. That award went to the Dixie Chick’s. Billy accepted the award on their behalf by saying “I’ll take this home and put in on my mantle on their behalf and they can come by and visit it as often as they like.”
Billy brought the house down with an exciting performance of “She’s My Girl” from his “Dare to Dream” album.
An exciting night for Billy and his fans.

Bad news for Billy this week.
"One Voice" falls off the top 20 Country Albums chart according to Billboard, while "Dare to Dream" drops six from #6 to #12. It also drops from #45 to #87 on the Billboard 200, the top 200 albums transcending genres.
Let's just keep one thing in mind. "One Voice" was a phenomenol success, and we shouldn't at all be disappointed if "Dare to Dream" doesn't go as far. Even a gold album is relatively rare; that's a good goal. I'm not suggesting one shouldn't compare the albums, rather, make sure you are doing it in a fair manner.

Good news on the chart scene for Billy this week. Note that Billboard data is based on the top half of the charts.
Billy's One Voice album slips one spot from #19 to #20 on the Country Albums Chart this week. However, Dare to Dream debuts in the #6 slot and will likely rise higher in the coming weeks.
Dare to Dream also debuted at #45 on the Billboard 200, the top 200 albums transcending genre.
Be sure to request Billy's new single, "She's My Girl", on your radio station and keep your eyes open for the video to air on GAC.

Less than a year before the 12-year-old dynamo released his first project One Voice, and with it, through his webpage, voiced that winning a grammy would be a dream, it looks like the dream may come true.
Billy is nominated for a Grammy in 2001 for "Best Male Country Vocal Performance" for One Voice. Since it's a vocal performance, and we all know Billy has some of the most stellar vocals the world has ever heard, I think he's got that one in the bag.
One Voice is also nominated for "Best Country Song".
Go Billy! We're all behind you 100%.

On last Friday's (11/10/2000) Billboard Music Video Awards, Billy's One Voice video won all the categories it was nominated in: Best country new artist clip, best contemporary Christian clip, best contemporary Christian new artist clip, and best Jazz/Adult Contemporary new artist clip. It appears I have been lax in keeping up with the chart news again. I apologize, I must be getting forgetful in my old age. Nonetheless, here is the most currently information I've got.
Regarding the album One Voice, it moves up two spots to #51 after dropping eight the week before from #45 to #53 on the Billboard 200. It also gains one spot from #7 to #6 on the Billboard Country Music Albums Chart.
Neither Oklahoma or One Voice make any showings in the top half of the Billboard 100 or Billboard Hot Country Singles charts, nor the Radio and Records airplay chart.
In regards to the video for Oklahoma, it drops two spots from #3 to #5 this week on the GAC Top 15, and still makes no moves onto the CMT charts. Keep voting for Billy's video at

A few general updates, mostly those having to do with the site itself:
1.) Got the "Classic Christmas" lyrics up a couple of days ago.
2.) Got a few new images (9 I believe?) up in the image galleries.
It seems as though the official message board may be down (although I could be wrong). Most of you have seen the error when you try to access the board, and a few of us have noticed that the link to it that used to be in the Extras/Fun Stuff section is gone as well. If that's the case, now as always, I encourage you to use the message board on this site. It works much the same as the official board did (please remember that usernames and passwords are case sensitive), a lot of work went into its creation, and it will be moderated as necessary to provide the best atmosphere for everybody of all ages.

Welcome back to chart news everybody. It's about noon here on Sunday the 22nd of October. Overall the showings for Billy were less than stellar. I make the note again that my numbers are based on the TOP HALF of the billboard charts and the top 30 on the R&R chart. With that said, let's dive right in.
For the album, One Voice holds steady at #7 on the Country Albums chart, and drops seven spots to #53 on the Billboard 200.
Neither the single (One Voice) or the video make any showings anymore this week. Oklahoma, however, moves up three spots from #9 to #6 on the GAC Top 15 Countdown. Show your support by

Welp, I finally got Billy's audio segments from "Country Countdown USA" ripped from the tapes and encoded in Real Audio. I was going to (and did) encode it in mp3, but the total was over 23 megs and that was far too much.
You can find the audio through the articles section. The zip file of all the segments is about 3 megs, the other files range from about 50-250k.
I haven't listened to any of them yet, but the quality should be fairly good.

Billy's fellow nominees are his duet partner Charlotte Church and pop singers Hoku, Mandy Moore and Rachael Lampa. In other Billy news, the musical wunderkind named mega star Garth Brooks as one of his greatest inspirations in an interview with LAUNCH. Blech, I just listened to part of the RealAudio recording of the TWEC interview, and it sucks pretty bad. My suggestion is not to waste the download, wiat until Monday when TWEC puts up their copy. The skips were somewhere in the recording process, and I'm not entirely sure why.
Sorry again, if I had known it was that bad, I would not have announced it as vigorously as I did.
Did I say sorry? I think I did, let me say it two or three more times. It skips, I don't know why, I apologize. Wait for the official copy, I can't, with any conscious, fail to annouce to you that what would be a 4.1 meg download is fairly low quality.
If you're dying to hear it, I suppose it's okay--most of the answers are still intact and distinguishable.

Billy Gilman recently recorded a version of "Sleigh Ride" with Sony Classical powerhouse Charlotte Church for his upcoming Christmas disc Classic Christmas. Gilman, who made his first trip overseas to record the duet, will be hitting record stores with the much anticipated album on October 17.

Billy's official website reports that Billy has completed filming of the video for his new single, "Oklahoma". The video is expected to be delivered to GAC and CMT in a few weeks.
The video was created by the same director as "One Voice". Keep your eyes peeled, this one is sure to be great!

BILLY PERFORMS FOR 10,000 FANS
Billy Gilman performed over the weekend in front of a crowd of 10,000 music lovers in Fall River, MA. When Billy returned to the stage for his encore he invited fellow performers The Clark Family Experience to join him for a rousing version of the Bob Wills classic "Roly Poly". Most will remember Billy's show-stopping version of "Roly Poly" with Asleep At The Wheel at the ACM Awards in April.

I have seen a degree of confusion on other sites and their message boards as to what issue of People magazine Billy Gilman will be featured in. Hopefully this will help to clear it up:
Billy will be featured in the issue of People that has "August 14th" on the COVER; it is out THIS WEEK, August 7th to the 13th only. The date of the issue is one week ahead, do not let that confuse you.

Billy's One Voice single is currently #18 in nationwide airplay as determined by Radio and Records, up from #19 last week. It is #44 in the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart, up from #55.
The album, also entitled One Voice, moves from #33 to #31 on the Billboard Top 200, and drops one place from #2 to #3 on the Country Albums Chart.
His video is currently #3 on GAC's Top 15, down from #1 last week, and is stalled at #11 on CMT's Top Twelve this week.

I finally finished coding the voting booth script. My computer was being a bit moody and I had to debug it online, so it took a little longer than I would have liked, but I believe it is in good working order now.
The script is capable of holding an infinate number of open, simultanious polls, so be sure to check the poll page often to see if a new poll has been added.
Please, only vote one time per poll. If people vote multiple times, I will have to code in measures to prevent it, which I would like to avoid doing if I can.

After the wrap-up of Billy's "Today" show performance, his official website offers two new locations to watch for the rising star.
On July 28th, at 4:30 pm eastern time, Billy will be featured on the CNN show entitled "Showbiz Today".
Also, there will be an article about Billy in the August 7th edition of People magazine. The article will focus on his incredible voice and quick lift to the top of the charts.

Billy Gilman gave his much-anticipated performance on NBC's "Today" show this morning just before 9am. He sang the acclaimed One Voice, giving a flawless performance. Despite the rainy weather, there were a collection of fan's to cheer him on through his performance.
After the song, the hosts talked briefly of Billy's amazing voice and his poise.

That's right, Billy's long-awaited performance on the "Today" show is coming up this Wednesday, July 26th, sometime between 7 and 9 AM on NBC.
Billy's official site quoted the time as 7PM, but that is in error. Hopefully everybody realizes that so they can all turn out to show their support!
This performance ought to be a great one. And as a bonus, IF the label has decided on a new single yet, there is a good chance that he will perform it. Not saying One Voice isn't a beautiful song, but I've seen him perform it (on TV) a few too many times--something new would be great!

Billy Gilman's powerful One Voice album has knocked off two more competitors this week to sit tight in the #2 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums list, and was honored with the distinction of the Greatest Gainer in Sales for the last week.
What does all this mean? It means Billy has only one more foe to overcome before he stands astride the country world like a (4'7") collosus--the Dixie Chicks.
A formidable challenge, certainly; the "Fly" album has been atop the charts for an unbelieveably long amount of time. Can Billy do it? Of course he can.
Look for Billy at #1 next week!

You will need to download special software and quickly register a name if you haven't already. The download takes about a minute (on a 56k) and the registration is about 30 seconds. However, you might want to check out the chats now to make sure they work--I found out it didn't like my proxy, so I had to find an alternate means for Thursday night.

Billy Gilman continues strong showings on the Billboard Charts this week. Gilman's One Voice album remains at #4 on the Country Albums chart (and falls from #43 to #45 on the overall chart).
His single (also One Voice) is holding its second week at #1 on the Country Singles Sales Chart.

BILLY'S GET-WELL GIFT
Not long after Billy Gilman's Grand Ole Opry debut he was struck in the mouth with the golf ball, knocking out one of his front teeth. The kind folks at the Grand Ole Opry thought Billy might need a little cheering up and did their part by sending a deluxe get-well basket complete with a golf ball bucket full of soft candies, teeth shaped gummies, pixie sticks and golf ball shaped writing pads. The Opry basket also contained a note that read, "Here's a little something to soften the blow and protect your smile. Come back to the Opry soon."

Site News -- Review System Added!

After nearly ten hours of work, I finally finished the review system code. The system allows a user to register themselves, and then post reviews of every song off Billy's "One Voice" album. Any future albums that he cuts will also be added to the system to allow for reviews.
If you want to post a review, find the lyrics page of the song you wish to review. Scroll to the bottom, and click the "review" link. If you need help, there will soon be a help file available to outline the process for you.

Look for Billy Gilman on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on July 11 and for his rescheduled appearance on the "Today" show, now set to air on July 26th. Both are major television appearances and should work to introduce the young star to a larger audience.
